Frequently asked questions

Chennai to Tirupati tour — FAQ

What are the darshan types at Tirumala Balaji Temple?
TTD offers multiple darshan types. ₹300 Special Entry Darshan (SED) gives you a shorter queue of 1–2 hours — book online on the TTD website at least 2–3 days in advance. Free darshan (Sarva Darshan) is walk-in but can take 4–10 hours depending on the day and season. VIP Break Darshan is available for senior citizens (65+) and differently abled persons with valid proof.
Why do you recommend a 3 AM start from Chennai?
Starting at 3 AM from Chennai allows you to reach Tirumala by 6–7 AM, before the main crowd arrives. Morning darshan queues are significantly shorter. For free darshan, early arrival is essential to avoid 8–10 hour waits. The highway is smooth and empty at this hour, and our experienced drivers are comfortable with early-morning drives on the Chennai–Tirupati route.
What should I carry for Tirupati darshan?
Must carry: ID proof (Aadhaar/PAN), TTD darshan ticket printout (if SED), minimal cash. Do not carry: mobile phones, cameras, and all electronic gadgets — they are strictly prohibited inside the temple. Leave them in the car with our driver or use TTD locker facilities. Wear traditional attire — no jeans, shorts, sleeveless tops, or printed T-shirts.
Is an inter-state permit required for the Chennai to Tirupati trip?
Yes. Since Tirupati is in Andhra Pradesh and our vehicles are registered in Tamil Nadu, an inter-state permit is mandatory. We arrange the permit in advance so you don't have to worry about it. The permit cost (~₹500–800 depending on vehicle type) is charged as an extra and is included in the cost breakdown we share before booking confirmation.
Can I cover Tirupati, Srikalahasti and Kanipakam in one day?
Technically possible but not recommended. Tirumala darshan alone takes 2–4 hours (with SED), and you need time for the ghat road drive. Adding Srikalahasti (40 km) and Kanipakam (70 km further) would make it an exhausting 18+ hour day. Our 2-day package from ₹6,500 gives you a comfortable pace with an overnight stay near Tirupati.
